Most guides to hotels in Fayetteville AR will tell you a property is “close to downtown” or “one mile from the University of Arkansas.” We checked, and a lot of that is straight-line distance measured on a map, not a walk you would actually take. One well-known chain hotel advertises itself as a mile from Razorback Stadium. On foot it is 1.9 miles and about thirty-eight minutes, most of it uphill.
So we did this the boring way. Every hotel below was geocoded and routed on a real pedestrian network that follows actual sidewalks and crossings, from its front door to the 300 block of West Dickson Street, where we are. Walking times assume a normal three-mile-an-hour pace. Where a hotel’s own marketing disagrees with the routed number, we say so.
The headline: of the twenty-plus lodging properties in Fayetteville, exactly three are a genuine walk to Dickson Street. Everything else needs a car or a rideshare, no matter what the booking page implies.
Tier 1: genuinely walkable to Dickson Street
The Dickson Street Inn, 0.07 miles, about 2 minutes
301 W. Dickson St. It is on the same block as us. Nothing else in Fayetteville is remotely this close, and it is not a chain: a historic house with ten individually designed rooms, which means a group can plausibly book the whole inn.
Best for: bachelorette groups, couples, anyone whose entire weekend plan is Dickson Street. Be honest with yourself about: being on the 300 block means Thursday through Saturday nights are loud. That is a feature or a bug depending on why you came. We would not send a parent looking for quiet here. Dickson Street Inn.
Graduate by Hilton Fayetteville, 0.46 miles, about 9 minutes
70 N. East Ave. Flat, sidewalked and well lit the whole way down Dickson. If you want a full-service hotel and a real walk to the bars, this is the answer. It also sits on the Downtown Square side, so you are walking distance to the Farmers’ Market too.
Trophy Room bar and restaurant on site, indoor and outdoor pools, which is rare in this market, plus EV charging and meeting space. Pet friendly for a fee.
One correction: Hilton’s own page says 1.4 miles to Razorback Stadium. Routed on foot it is 1.66 miles and roughly thirty-two minutes, and it is uphill. Book this one for the bars, not for the game. Graduate by Hilton.
Naming note, because this trips people up: this is the old Chancellor Hotel. It became Graduate Fayetteville in 2019 and Graduate by Hilton after Hilton acquired Graduate Hotels in 2024. Same building, same address. If you see “Chancellor Hotel, closed” in a search result, that is a stale listing, not a different property.
Inn at Carnall Hall, 0.55 miles, about 10 minutes
465 N. Arkansas Ave, and it is literally a restored 1905 residence hall on the University of Arkansas campus. Ten minutes downhill to Dickson Street, three minutes to Old Main, and 0.84 miles to Razorback Stadium, which is the shortest stadium walk of any hotel in the city.
Best for: parents visiting a student. This is the clear pick for that, and it is not close. Also the best game-day option that still lets you walk home from the bars. Ella’s Table restaurant and the Lambeth Lounge coffee bar are on site. Inn at Carnall Hall.
Tier 2: short rideshare, 1 to 3 miles
Moxy Fayetteville, 0.99 miles, about 21 minutes on foot
530 W. Streamside Bend, in the South Yard development. This is the newest hotel in the city, open since September 2025, and most guides have not caught up to it yet.
It is the honest borderline case. Twenty-one minutes is walkable in daylight in good weather. It is not something a group in heels does at 1am. The redeeming detail is that it sits directly on the Razorback Greenway, so the walk is mostly on a dedicated paved trail rather than a road shoulder. By car it is three minutes.
Best for: bachelorette groups and the younger going-out crowd. Bar Moxy is the social hub and the whole brand is built around it. Moxy Fayetteville.
The Clementine on College, 1.2 miles, about 23 minutes
1156 N. College Ave. A 1965 motel restored in full midcentury style, eight units, with Cafe Rue Orleans and the Sidecar Cocktail Lounge on site. Three minutes by car.
Important: it books through Airbnb and VRBO rather than a hotel reservation system, and there is no front desk. Treat it as a boutique short-term rental. If you need someone at a desk at midnight, book elsewhere. The Clementine.
The Stonebreaker Hotel, 1.9 miles, and do not walk it
163 N. Cabin Ridge, on Markham Hill. Thirty-eight minutes on foot and a substantial climb, so call it a seven minute drive and be done with it. To its credit, the hotel’s own site describes Dickson Street as “just a short drive,” which is more honest than most.
Opened February 2025. Seventy-eight rooms on a wooded hilltop, a restaurant with weekend brunch, a private members’ club, a heated pool and fire pit, and the restored Pratt Place Barn as an event venue, which makes it a serious wedding property. It also happens to be 0.87 miles from Razorback Stadium.
Best for: game-day visitors who want a retreat rather than a party, and wedding parties. Poor fit if your priority is Dickson Street. Note it charges a resort fee. The Stonebreaker.
Hampton Inn Fayetteville, 2.7 miles, not walkable
915 S. Krupa Dr, about seven minutes by car. Free hot breakfast, indoor pool, free parking. Solid mid-tier choice if location is not your priority.
This is the property we mentioned at the top. Its page claims one mile to the University of Arkansas and one mile to Razorback Stadium. Routed on foot, the stadium is 1.91 miles and thirty-eight minutes. Hampton Inn.
Tier 3: worth it anyway, for one specific reason
These are all a seven to twelve minute drive. None are walkable. Each earns its place for one concrete reason.
- Homewood Suites, 3.2 miles. Best for groups and longer stays. Real one-bedroom suites with kitchens and separate living rooms, which is the reason to pick it for a bachelorette group that wants a shared space. Free hot breakfast plus a free evening social Monday to Thursday.
- Hilton Garden Inn, 3.2 miles. Best for business. Full-service bar and restaurant, meeting rooms, business center, indoor pool.
- Holiday Inn Express, 3.2 miles. Best budget option. Free breakfast, and the parking accommodates buses, trucks, trailers and RVs, which genuinely matters if you are towing a tailgate setup. No pool, so check that before booking with kids.
- Courtyard by Marriott, 5.2 miles. Right for a trip that is really about Northwest Arkansas generally with one night on Dickson. Note: no pets, service animals only, and its own site quotes a third-party cab downtown at around forty-five dollars each way, which tells you everything about the distance.
- Hyatt Place, 5.2 miles. The only World of Hyatt option in the city, which matters if you have status there. Watch the pet fees: they are roughly four times what the Moxy charges.
- Fairfield Inn & Suites, 5.4 miles. Cheapest Marriott-family option and notably strong on accessibility features, including an accessible-entry pool.
Three listings to ignore
Searching for hotels in Fayetteville AR turns up a few things that are not what they look like.
- Home2 Suites “Fayetteville North” is in North Carolina. Not Arkansas. It shows up in searches constantly. Hilton lists exactly four properties in Fayetteville, Arkansas: Graduate, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites.
- Aloft and Residence Inn do not exist in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Marriott’s own Fayetteville page lists three properties: Moxy, Courtyard and Fairfield Inn & Suites.
- TownePlace Suites “Fayetteville North/Springdale” is in Springdale, at 5437 S. 48th St. That is 7.25 miles and a fourteen minute drive from Dickson Street. It is a fine extended-stay option for a week-plus budget trip, but the word Fayetteville in the name is doing a lot of work.
One more, for the future: a seven-story, up-to-230-room dual-branded Hilton was approved by City Council in 2024 for the corner of Dickson and West Ave. There is no evidence it has opened and it is not bookable. If it does open, it becomes the only large full-service hotel actually on Dickson Street.
Game day: walking distance to Razorback Stadium
The thing nobody tells you is that no hotel in Fayetteville is both a short walk to Dickson Street and a short walk to the stadium. Routed pedestrian distances, best to worst:
- Inn at Carnall Hall: 0.84 miles, about 16 minutes
- The Stonebreaker: 0.87 miles, about 18 minutes
- Dickson Street Inn: 1.29 miles, about 26 minutes
- Moxy: 1.57 miles, about 32 minutes
- Graduate by Hilton: 1.66 miles, about 32 minutes
- Hampton Inn: 1.91 miles, about 38 minutes
- Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood, Holiday Inn Express: about 2.4 miles, roughly 50 minutes
- Courtyard, Hyatt Place, Fairfield: about 4.8 miles, not walkable
Carnall Hall is the only property that splits the difference, at ten minutes to Dickson and sixteen to the stadium.
If you are staying downtown, the move is Trailgating: an organized pedestrian fan route from the Upper Ramble to the stadium’s north endzone along the Razorback Greenway and Maple Street. Getting around without a car
Uber and Lyft both operate in Fayetteville, and on game days there are designated rideshare pickup zones near the Arkansas Union. Two things worth knowing honestly: the city’s own tourism guidance is to walk several blocks away from the stadium after a game before requesting a ride, which tells you what pickup near the venue is like. And traditional taxis have to be called ahead, because street hailing is not a thing here.
Razorback Transit and Ozark Regional Transit both run, but neither is a realistic way home from Dickson Street at midnight.
So where should you book?
- Here for the bars: Dickson Street Inn if you can get it, Graduate by Hilton if you cannot.
- Visiting a student: Inn at Carnall Hall, no contest.
- Game day: Carnall Hall, or the Stonebreaker if you want quiet.
- Bachelorette or group: Dickson Street Inn to book out the whole place, Moxy for the bar scene, Homewood Suites if you want kitchens and space.
- On a budget: Holiday Inn Express or Fairfield, and plan on rideshares.

How far in advance should I book for a home football game?
Months. Fayetteville has limited inventory and home football weekends roughly double the town’s population. The three walkable properties sell out first and price accordingly. If you are booking late, expect to be in the Shiloh Drive or Van Asche Drive clusters and budget for rideshares.
Are Fayetteville hotels pet friendly?
Most are, with fees that vary a lot. Hilton Garden Inn is on the cheaper end, Moxy is reasonable per night, and Hyatt Place is by far the most expensive. Courtyard does not accept pets at all, service animals excepted. Always confirm with the property, since pet policies change more often than anything else on a hotel page.
